SYNESTHESIA a sensory art exhibition exploring synesthetic experiences in contemporary art. The contemporary works and live performance display Synesthesia's cross-wiring in the brain, replicating simple stimuli into multi-sensory outputs. The aim of SYNESTHESIA brings viewers to hear and experience artworks with unusual relationships away from the fixed idea, works of art are merely for ‘seeing’.

“Siana Altiise uses her extrasensory condition, Synesthesia, to compose songs according to their vivid color patterns, giving life to emotions that music evokes in mental paintings. A 2-time speaker at TED in 2017, The Art of Slowing Down, demonstrates the connectivity of the senses and their role in our need for self-awareness and emotional intelligence.”

The Color of Sound Exhibition presents multi-sensory, synesthetic experiences in 10 pieces of contemporary art and performance. Viewers hear and interact with artworks with unusual relationships, and broaden the approach of thinking, away from the fixed idea, works of art are merely for ‘seeing’.


 

hacking the accessible brain

Manhattan, New York

The Accessible Brain is an accessible space for people with disabilities to craft sounds and visual effects. The team made a simple data visualizer that responded to brainwave activity, as well as to the movements of the head and neck, that could be used by people with limited mobility. The team was able to successfully show a proof of concept project that can be developed further for those with accessibility and motion impairment.
